Ok..check this...you are talking to a friend about an issue that concerns you, and your friend advises you against the decision you want to make..You get upset and snap at your friend.."I'm gonna do what I want, it's my life isn't it?"..
Err..I've got news for you...No,it's not your life and the One who owns it can demand for it at any time!!I don't mean to scare you, please don't get me wrong. I guess all I'm trying to say is this, never make plans for tomorrow,or even the next minute without putting God in the picture! Check out the story of the rich fool in Luke 12v16-20:
16 And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
17He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'
18"Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."
20"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
We need to be careful how we make plans...I say this because I have come to learn the hard way and as such speak from experience. We are on borrowed time here on earth, and knowing that as a fact can and will help us understand why we need to take it all back to God. It very easy to run on the fuel of emotions and excitement, I know because I have been there. When we reach such a point, everything fabulous that we see will seem to point towards that "good" decision we feel we have made, every bible verse or passage we read will seem to speak to us positively about that "good" decision we have made. But did we really commit it to God in the first place? Or did we just assume God knows and as such it's all sorted? God loves it when we talk to Him. Like any relationship or friendship, communication is key.
Just like Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3v12 - "I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us." I am yet to master this as well, and I am learning everyday to do so. The great thing about this God we're talking about is that you can ask Him for grace to be able to commit all to Him. He is so fabulous that He can guide your every single step. I have made mistakes in this area as well...ooooh I have made mistakes but I am grateful and forever thankful that the God I serve forgives and redeems.
Why not give it a try because at the end of the day, it's God's life ANYWAY not yours!!!!
Have a fab weekend and God bless...
Word of the day...
Galatians 3v3, 4 - How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it? (NLT)
